Subset B-4.21

Plaque about the Taj Mahal.

The Taj in all its glory

This is looking at the Taj from the doorway of the East Gate.  If I step just one foot to the left or the right, the symmetry of the building changes.

One of my biggest disappointments was to learn that the Taj Mahal is no longer open during the night, so you cannot see it by moonlight.  Stories as to why this is the case range from it being too dangerous at night (crime-wise), to it being a security-risk for India(pakistani terrorists)!!.  I was fortunate enough to spend a long afternoon with clear skies at the Taj. The next morning I awoke early and was on site prior to sun-rise, only to be greeted by this morning fog.  I waited more than 2 hours for the fog to lift (it did not), and had to leave to catch a plane.

Even in the fog, you can sense the surrounding beauty.

This is some of the inlayed marble at the Taj Mahal.
