This is India Gate built by the British in New Delhi.  This where the parade route starts for the Republican Day festivities which was held while we were there.  It is the anniversary of the Indian constitution.  It is something like our July the 4th festivities.  The government takes this occasion very seriously.  Troops practice for several days, and on the big day all the important military might is displayed, including the rockets that launch nuclear weapons.
