David Mayer is as far back as we can now trace the Seligmans. I will leave to Dov and Gus Seligman the family historians who know most about him to present his biography. I thought I would start with 2 of his descendents, 5 generations down.
This is Spensor, son of Carrie and Mark Seligman. Mark's Dad is David Seligman who is the son of Nathan Seligman, who is the son of Hyman Seligman, who is David Meyers eldest son, 
Above is Adam who is the son of Andrew and Judy Charron. Andrew is the son of Miriam (my sister) and Cecil Charron. Miriam is the daughter of Harry Seligman who is the son of Hyman Seligman who is the eldest son of David Meyer.
And this is Adam's younger sister, Orion.
